Pope Francis will be visiting the United States for the Synod on the Family and will be holding an outdoor Mass on the last day. The Closing Mass will take place on September 27, 2015 in Philadelphia, PA.— The Diocese of Springfield is arranging buses for this occasion and Saint Agnes Parish of Dalton invites you to join them! Over 3 Million people are expected to attend this event. Our buses will be leaving Saint Agnes Dalton at 4 AM and returning at 12 midnight. It is expected to be a very long day of travel. The bus company is expecting severe traffic congestion in the Philadelphia area. It is not known how close bus drop offs will be to the Mass. It is expected significant walking. This will not be the trip for anyone that has mobility issues. There will be no seating at the event. It will involve lots of walking, standing, waiting and patience. Inability to handle any of the above would be a suggestion to watch the Mass on TV instead. Those willing to sacrifice personal comfort for this event will not be disappointed. Meals & refreshments not provided. Non refundable $62 per person. Call St. Joseph Rectory if interested or call 413-684-0125. Spots will be first come / first serve.
Sacred Heart Sunday Readings Discussion Group meets each Wednesday following the 9 AM Mass in the Sacred Heart Parish Center. The format is informal: review the readings/share your responses with others, followed by common prayer. The rewards are many: becoming more aware and attentive to the weekly readings-and the Bible as a whole; developing a new understanding and appreciation of our diverse liturgical seasons; and gaining the satisfaction of giving voice to ones’ faith with a caring supportive group. For more information, please contact Bob James at (413) 344-4526. Everyone is welcome!!!
Thank you to all the CCD students, parents and drivers who delivered flowers to our shut-ins on March 15th! The flowers were well received, and our home-bound and nursing home parishioners were thrilled to be visited by our students. Your efforts were extremely appreciated!
THE FOOD PANTRY is looking for individuals to help the regular drivers on occasion with the delivery, depending on size of the order from BCAC on East St. in Pittsfield to our pantry. A pickup truck is needed and availability from 11:30 to 2. This would not be every week, but on an as needed basis. To volunteer or for further information, contact Sylvester Peniuk at 442-5157. Thanks for your willingness to help in this parish ministry.
