The Parish Family of Saint John Paul II will continue the Polka Picnic tradition on Sunday, September 10th at the Polanka Grounds on Mill Street in Adams. Gates open at noon with the Eddie Foreman Orchestra performing favorite dance tunes from 1-5. Traditional Polish foods will be available for purchase. The Adams Lions Club will be selling cookout fare and Crumb Bakery will be selling homemade treats. Free games will be provided for children. Admission is $5.00/adult, free for children 12 and under. On-street and limited grounds parking will be available.

I know times are difficult and we keep asking and asking, but the need in the world is great. Next Sunday we will be collecting donations for the people of Maui who have lost so much. Fr. Tomy Elias , V.C., a Vincentian Missionary Priest from India, will be in our parish on Aug.26th and 27th weekend to participate in our Annual Missionary Cooperation Plan. He will share his missionary experience at all the Masses next weekend (Aug. 26th and 27th) and will make an appeal on behalf of the Vincentian Missions. The Vincentian Congregation (V.C.), a Religious Congregation, was founded in Kerala, India in 1904, modeled after the Congregation of the Mission founded by St. Vincent de Paul. Members of this flourishing Religious Congregation are engaged in Mission Work in all parts of India and in East Africa and in Peru. Dear parents and guardians of CCD students, I hope you and your families are having a great summer. CCD letters and registrations will be going out at the end of August. Schedules for K through 5 will be from 10 to 11 at St. Joseph’s Parish Center following the 9 o’clock mass. Sixth, 7 and 8th grades will be on Sunday evenings twice a month and 9th grade (Confirmation) evening classes will be 5 to 6 with mass at 6 PM at the Parish Center. More information to follow. The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults is the process by which individual are welcomed into the Catholic Church. Our sessions, lasting about 1 hour, will being this year on Wednesday, October 18th at 6:30 p.m. in the North Chapel. TWELFTH NIGHT - It's been four years, but now it's time to plan the 12th Night Mass and dinner which will take place on January 6, 2024. The first committee meeting will be at 6:30 in the North Chapel on August 28, 2023. This will be the 60th anniversary, which was interrupted due to the Covid shutdown. Please make every effort to come to the meeting, share your ideas, and be a part of this Christmas celebration. Also, share this information with any folks that might not see this notification and would likely enjoy being a part of the planning.
The St. Anne’s Society will gather on August 16th at 6:00 p.m. in the Parish Center. Our meeting this month is a very popular one and looked forward to by the members! Barbara Pastie and her innovative “Shake Your Soul” program will be our guest again to get us up off our chairs with a series of gentle, expressive movements to a variety of music. We have enjoyed participating in this exercise, good for any level of ability, in the past and hope that many women in the parish will join us! As always, refreshments and conversation follow!
